BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The Thomas Cowley High School, Donington

Oblong stone plate, with oval raised dial plate surface, set into the brickwork above the front door, and slightly canted out on lhs, despite its being already a declining dial. Above is a stone lintel and over that another stone engraved ’Ut umbra sic vita’. Below is a panel ’Founded / by / T Cowley Gent / 1719 / REBUILT AD 1812’. Aligned small painted-in Roman numerals read from outside VIII - XII - IV - VII. No hour lines or divisions.
