BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Essex

Replaces a much older dial which was stolen approx 1995. Aligned Roman numerals, read from inside, V - XII - IV - VII, with no noon gap. Hour lines not through numerals; half and quarter hour divisions. Gnomon pierced with four ’S’ shapes. Around the gnomon root ’AM GMT PM’. Then ’MMII’ followed by the house name and lat and long. Below is a deer’s head insignia, and around the S circumference ’VERITAS SUPERABIT’.
