BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The Hour House, Rickmansworth

This is a horizontal dial that has been mounted vertically. As positioned it has the form of an inverted shield, with diagonal cutoffs at the upper corners and semicircular segments taken from the lower corners. Rather insignificant Roman numerals, read from outside, run clockwise, IIII - XII - IIII - VII, with hour marks and 30 and 10 minute divisions. Mounted in the SE facing bricked-up uper storey window space, above the front door. Phoro I Butson, Aug 2005.
