BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Essex

Aligned Roman numerals read from inside IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, with split noon. No hour lines, but half and quarter hour and 5 minute divisions. 8-point compass rose at centre. Good baluster-style pedestal with twisted fluting. Motto ’Serene I stand among ye flowers and only count life’s sunny hours. For me dark days do not exist - I’m a brazed faced old optimist’.
