BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The concave style will give an incorrect hour line shadow(see photo). The furniture is engraved or etched and filled with black. Roman numerals read from outside IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, with split noon. Short hour lines through numerals; 1/2 and 1/4 hr divisions. 8-point compass rose at centre, labelled to NE etc. Motto ’SUNNY HOURS’.
