BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial is located on south wall. Upright Arabic numerals 6am to 5pm with gilded cross for noon. Hour lines to gilded full sunburst at gnomon root, and dots for half hours. To the left of the sunburst is carved ’LAT 51.3 N / LON 1.9 W / DEC 17 E’. Two circles in the body of the dial, both carved in a slight recess, with: left, ’UM’ (presumably Urchfont Manor); and right, a bird with raised wings, the Wiltshire badge. Across the top the date ’1997’. Secured to the brick wall by four screws and two supports. Below is a black slate tablet carved with a graph of the EOT, incl longitude correction, and ’APPLY TO DIAL TIME + 1 HR FOR BST / LAT 51.3 N LON 1.9 W DEC 15 E’ (sic, despite the ’DEC 17 E’ on the dial). A well carved dial. Equation of Time plate carries monogram ’DMB 0398’.
