BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 4,800 sundials in the UK which are publicly available. Click here for the BRIDOL main page.

The Dale, Chale

This unusual sundial is in the front garden of The Dale, a white painted cottage on the east side of the street. This is the simplest of armillary spheres with just two rings (the equator and the meridian) and an axis. It is supported on four iron legs. The entire instrument is decorated with a trailing creeper made of iron or steel and rusted to the same colour as the dial itself.
