Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Oxfordshire

Modern horizontal memorial dial. The dial has an 8 point compass rose in the centre. The inner chapter ring has hour lines and Arabic numerals aligned with them and read from outside the dial, from 4am to 8pm. An outer chapter ring has 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8 hour divisions. There is a noon gap for the fairly broad gnomon which has an ornamental dolphin support. The motto is ’Tyme and tyde wait for no man’. The dial appears to be badly corroded. It sits atop a rectangular-sectioned tapering plinth on a twin-stepped base. This dial is a memorial to Victor John Leach, d 1975 and Phyllis May Leach d 1934.
