BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Staffordshire

Aligned Roman hour numerals, read from outside, IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, with noon gap. Full length hour lines through numerals. Half and quarter hour indications in outer ring. Inside the chapter ring at the north, ’In memory of many happy hours spent in . . .’; at the south ’The gift of Edward Lycett and Harriet his wife / from the Hall gardens to the churchyard’. In the chapter ring at the south ’Sunny Hours’. In 2008 it was reported as being well polished, but by 2015 it had reverted to a more natural finish! The gnomon was replaced in about 2003. Mounted on a modified staddle-stone, 980 high.
