BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial is in the garden to the south-west of the front of the house. Arabic hours (LAT) 5 - 12 - 7 divided to quarters. Extra dotted line for Greenwich noon. Declination lines around noon for family birthdays and wedding anniversary. Horizon ring carries 4 compass points and directions and distances to 7 places; also ’Twinstead Manor’, lat & lon, and ’John Davis fecit, FLOWTON 2007’. E-W ring carries crest & motto for Drake family (’Sapienter Si Sincere’), facsimile signatures of William & Henrietta, wedding anniversary and motto ’ Love’s not time’s fool … ’ (Shakespeare, sonnet 116).
