BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Burghley House (1), Stamford (near)

The dial is in the rose garden outside the tearooms. Signed at south, read from north, ’I Silson fecit’ - probably Jeremiah or Jonathan Sisson. Aligned Roman hour numerals read from outside, IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, with split noon. Half hours marked. 2-minutes marked at outside, with 10 minutes marked by Arabic numerals read from outside. Half hours marked by prominent 7-point arrow stars with inner lozenge on chapter ring. Quarters and eighths shown inside chapter rin. Gnomon base is elegantly turned-up at the end away from the toe. Unusual stone pillar of alternating cubes and smaller cylinders. Circular ogee-edged capital.
