BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Highgate House (1), Creaton

Upright mixed hour numerals (Roman VI am and VI pm, Arabic 7 - 11 and 1 - 5, noon a cross patty, partly covered by Gnomon support). Dated 1663. Large inscription at lower edge of dial "VIVAT CAROLUS SECUNDUS". Dial plate also inscribed "O Beata Solitudo O Sola Beatitude" around top arch; "mihi opidum carcer est et Solitudo", "PARADISUS W. H.", "DEUS NOBISCVM ET CORONA MANVM OPUS NOSTRUM" . Also crown symbol beneath gnomon. Gnomon pierced with shaped scrolls. Dial mounted on stonework plates mounted separately onto main stonework of building, at SW corner, facing south. This is Pearson Page model 4227, one of many copies of the original stone dial in Peterborough, (Gatty 1900 p 350).
