A bronze vertical declining dial 610mm wide x 767mm high has Roman numerals showing the time Vii - V without a noon gap. Although the gnomon is set on the noon line it is inclined towards the left side of the dial. There is a small circular sun round the gnomon root, the upper half of which consists of radiating lines while the lower half appeas as flames. The dial plate has inner and outer borders. A large floral design has the date 1896 and a motto ’Light and shade in their turn but love remaineth.’
