BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Shaw Cemetery, Shaw, Newbury

Memorial dial on a grave. The dial has aligned Roman hour numerals, read from outside, IV - XII - IIII - VIII, with a noon gap. The hour lines terminate on a double circle around the gnomon foot, and there are half and quarter hour divisions. Motto "Lux Es" - You are the light. The hour lines are for about 52 to 54 degrees north. The gnomon angle is about 52 degrees. These seem as accurate as could be expected. Note that this is one of three sundials in this cemetery, all set on very similar tapered circular-section stone pedestals with deep circular capitals and bases. Engraved in the pedestal is a memorial to Ernest W Elling, 1890 - 1943. The three dials are very close together near the main pathway from the cemetery entrance, on the south side of the path.
