BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Nicholas Church, Beedon

A vertical mass dial on this ancient (1220) church. The circular dial is on a stone quoin (cornerstone) on the south-east corner of the nave, at its junction with the chancel. The circular dial has 24 equally spaced full length hour lines through 360 degrees. Some Roman numerals, aligned with the hour lines, are faintly visible. There is a cross patty at noon and a large gnomon hole. Note that the hour lines above the gnomon hole would appear to be redundant as a shadow can never be higher than the object casting it. However, it is quite common to find these lines on old sundials.
