BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Hitchin Hill, Hitchin

Gnomon discontinuous (does not touch dial plate) with two supports. 14-point sun-burst centred on virtual gnomon root. Arrows as hour lines for 10am to 6pm. Vertical Arabic hour numerals for hours 10, 11, 1, 3, 4, 6; zodiac symbols at other points in the rectangular chapter ring. Date ’19.03’ in the arch, motto ’COME . LIGHT . VISIT . ME’ at the base. Dial plate has arched top; furniture painted blue on white. Dial faces approx WSW. On corner with St John’s Road.
