BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Bedfordshire

Aligned Roman hour numerals, read from outside, IIII - XII - IIII - VIII. Noon gap, no hour lines, but marks in outer ring for Hour, 1/2, 1/4 & 1/8. Sun face with radiating beams seen from S, unusually centred below gnomon tip, not around the root. Motto at S "Sun’s hour". Appears hand made - engraved, not cast. Note double holes at root of gnomon. Small dial in large birdbath on three circular columns. Base of plinth inscribed " the kiss of the Sun for pardon" etc. Foot of kerbing commemorates Horace Stanley Deacon (1872 - 1934) and his wife Augusta Helen (1877 - 1961), and has "To live in the hearts of those we love is not to die". Dial plate misplaced by approx 90 deg.
