BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Lancashire

This is a modern replacement for an older dial, dated 1767, which was lost. It shows a sun face and the date of the original dial, with the inscription: "While others tell of storms and showers I only show you sunny hours". Arabic numerals from 4.00 am to 8.00 pm delineate hours which are sub-divided to half, quarter & eighth hours. The dial is sited in the churchyard on a plinth (possibly 18th century) 1375 mm high, which stands on two steps each 170 mm high.
