BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Pinetum Gardens (3), St Austell

The horizontal slate dial in the garden carries the date 1805 but this may not be genuine. It shows the usual hours of IV-VIII, has an 8-point compass rose and a motto in the shield at the south reading ’L’heure passe, l’amitie reste’ (The hour passes but friendship remains). The pedestal had been rotated somewhat clockwise by 2024
