BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
This is a P & G Sol Horometer Serial No 12 (though there is no mention of Pilkington & Gibbs anywhere on the instrument!). It is signed ’Negretti & Zambra / Opticians / 122 Regent Street / London W ’. It was restored in 2007 by J Davis, Flowton Dials, with a replica sightbox and knobs. A plaque and leaflet in the restaurant are planned (Oct 2008).
The pedestal is a helical stack of square slates(?).
