BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Essex

The dial is on the front lawn. It is let into the surface of a square capital attached to an elegant reconstituted, spirally fluted, baluster pedestal. It shows 5am to 7pm GMT and 6am to 8pm BST in 30 and 5 min marks, using XII and IV, the numerals read from inside the dial. The numerals for BST are very small. Half hours are marked by outward fleurs de lys. There is a noon gap with Pegasus. All the engraving is shallow. There is a large ornately pierced surface mounted gnomon.
