BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
At first sight you would think this to be a cube dial but an opportunity has been lost and there is only a bronze vertical South dial to be seen. It shows the hours from 6am to 6pm divided into halves and quarters. At the top is a motto which reads: "Life is Fleeting as the Shadow". ’Mogul’ shaped dialplate on ornate ’roof pedimented’ cube with ball finial over. Set on tapered octagonal section pillar with large square plinth and seat below. Thick gnomon with double curved under supporter. Dial is canted out slightly W to face South. The dial measures 300mmw x 350mmh. Dial recognising Thos Southall. Erected 1912.
