BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial is on the lawn in the corner of the courtyard. It is set on a baluster pedestal on a circular three step plinth. It was moved from the centre of the courtyard in 2000 to avoid the shadow of a tree. It shows 5am to 7pm in half hours, using XII and IIII, with a noon gap. Hour lines pass through numerals which are read from the outside. The surface mounted bar gnomon has a ’7’ shaped under supporter. The motto reads: ’Tyme Tryeth Troth’. The dial is dated 1710 but is probably early 20th century.
