BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Durham

The light stone dialplate with ogee moulded edges is over the back door. It shows half and quarter hours though the time scale cannot now be discerned. The dial declines 20-30 degrees east which might imply a time scale of 8am to 4pm or so. The motto is unreadable. The strip gnomon has a very corroded ’S’ undersupporter. Cleats hold the plate to the wall with a wire installed across it too.
