BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Town Square, Amble

This very large dial showing both GMT and BST is part of a prize winning development of the Town Square with a small amphitheatre and gardens, all laid out on the North South line. The 7m. high tubular stainless steel gnomon is supported by curved and straight supports which are said to recall waves. (Amble is a fishing and former coal port.) A plaque nearby shows corrections to sun time to give clock time, and for the longitude of the town.
