The motto on this slate dial reads: ’Horas non numero nisi serenas’. An inscription reads: ’This sundial-----John CapIV. 26’ This does not appear to be a biblical quotation however. There are five dials. The main shows 4am to 8pm in 30, 15 and 5 min marks. Roman numerals use the form XII and IIII and there is a noon gap. Numerals read from inside the dial. The corner dials are all partly broken away but are marked NW: Morning New York, NE: Afternoon/Alexandria, SE and SW are illegible but dials show 11-7-3, 6-2-10, 11-7-3, and 4-12-8 respectively. EoT scale of Dial Faster Slower type. 70 cities marked. The dial is kept in store at the museum, A/c No 38-1973
