BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
Circular vertical dial with nautical theme on the south-east facing gable end of a house.
The engraved slate dial shows 5:30am to 5pm in quarter hours with alternating red and gold segments but has gilded vertical Roman numerals from 6am to 4pm only. The red hour lines terminate on a circle round the gnomon foot that encloses a gilded anchor motif.
The cylindrical gilded rod gnomon with rounded end has a single supporter. There is no noon gap - the centre of the gnomon’s shadow indicates the time.
The motto around the top reads: "Time & Tide Wait for No Man".
There is an Equation of Time graph on a plaque below, but it may not be visible from the road.
The dial was made by Harriet James in 2003.
