BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Mary the Virgin’s Church (1), Norton-on-Tees

The dial is a thick slab sitting on a shelf well above the priest door in the ’Pity Porch’ (perhaps a corruption of ’petite/petty’. It carries upright Arabic hour numerals for 6am to 5pm, with full length hour lines to a small circle around the upper gnomon fixing point, and short half hour markers. The gnomon is missing. An inscription across the top is no longer decipherable, though the second line may be a churchwarden’s name ’Tho Grieves’.
