BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
This modern dial is mounted on a cylindrical stone pedestal with a prominent square capital and square base.
The dial covers the time from 6am to 6pm with un-numbered hour lines and no sub-divisions. The noon hour lines are duplicated with a gap the width of the gnomon (noon gap).
The solid gnomon has a sigmoidal curved back.
Below the dial, on the capital, there is a motto: ’Horas Non Numero Nisi Serenas’ (one translation is ’I count only the happy hours’) and also an inscription: ’Remember John Turkentine d 1985’ .
[The pedestal was seen lying to the ground in March 2024; the dial appeared to be intact.]
