Dial in Cambridgeshire

The dial, which is set on circular baluster pedestal, is a memorial to Walter Thorp who died in 1935. It shows 4am to 8pm using Roman numerals with XII for noon and IIII for 4pm. Numerals are as read from inside the dial. On the chapter ring there are 30, 15 and 5 minute divisions and a Noon Gap. There is an eight point compass rose in the centre of the face and leaf decoration in the upper section to balance the motto in the lower. Motto reads: ’When ye sun stays away I cannot tell ye time of day’.
