BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The Mole Inn, Toot Baldon

In the patio area of the inn is a bronze 5+4 half ring armillary sphere 686mm in diameter. It shows the hours 6am to 6pm im halves and quarters. The rod gmomon does not project outside the sphere. Mottoes read ’A man hath no better thing under the sun than to eat and to drink and be merry .Luke 12. 19’ and ’Nunc est bibendum’ (Now it is time to drink). Other inscriptions include ’The Mole Inn. Latitude 51 42 22. Longitude 01 10 52’, 8 compass directions and ten distances to places and cities. It is supported by a square section panelled stone pedestal. The maker may be David Harber.
