BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Le Manoir au Quatre Saisons Restaurant., Great Milton

In the garden of this restaurant is a bronze armillary sphere by David Harber which measures 900mm in diameter.It dates from 1944. Consisting of five rings and two half rings. It has the motto ’Eternum tibi semper adesse puta’ (Think always of the coming of eternity to you). Other inscriptions are ’All the flowers of all the tomorrows are in the seeds of today’ (? Source) and ’To see a World in a Grain of Sand, And a Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand, and Eternity in an hour’ (Blake, ’Songs of Innocence’).There is also an 8-point compass rose. The hour band shows the hours VI- Vi divided into halves and quarters .The sphere is mounted on a rough square section column.
