BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Dorset

The dial is at Borveridge House, set on a square section baluster pedestal with square capital and circular plinth on large octagonal base. It shows 4am to 8pm in at least half hours, the other divisions not noted, and the numerals are read from inside the dial. The motto reads: ’Time and Tide wait for no man’ and there is a compass rose in the centre of the dial plate, which has decorated spandrels.
