In the lavender garden is a 6-ring bronze armillary sphere 920mm in diameter. It has the inscription ’Ex legatis Wilfrid Estridge Hunt (1917-2001) alumni 1935-8 et Joan coniugis (1914 - 96)’ (The legacy of Wilfrid Estridge Hunt (1917-2001) at this college 1935-8 and Joan his wife (1914-96)). It shows the hours VI-VI divided into halves and quarters. Noon is marked XII GMT and the time scale is longitude corrected. There is an 8-point compass rose. The dial is mounted on a square section fluted pedestal 600mm high and dates from 2003.
