BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
Rectangular vertical south-east-facing dial.
The dial is high on the easternmost buttress on the south side of the church, which actually faces 12 degrees east of due south. It is rather indistinct but appears to have a semicircle round the gnomon root, full length hour lines and vertical Roman hour numerals from 5am to 5pm. There may also be half hour marks.
The gnomon is badly damaged.
Characters to the left of the dial are probably churchwardens’ initials and dates 1667 perhaps.
While at Chalgrove church, don’t miss its famous fourteenth century wall paintings.
