BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Compton Castle [NT], Marldon

In the garden here is a metal equatorial dial said to have been made by a local blacksmith in 1983. It was commissioned by the Gilbert family to mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Sir Humphrey Gilbert, navigator who landed in Newfoundland to claim it for Queen Elizabeth I.
