Prestwick Cross (2), Prestwick

Shows 4am to 8pm in hours. Hour markers are on stone built pillars with motifs denoting local interests. Large pierced gnomon (probably mild steel) with elaborate sun, moon, stars and zodiac symbols. The plate is of concrete and tiles, making a rough map of the Firth of Clyde, with the Isle of Arran, and some roads on the mainland. A tablet reads: "This decorative sundial was conceived and designed by 6th year Art students from Prestwick Academy with the assistance of members of the Art Department, who worked in collaboration with the artist Elspeth Bennie of Balfron. Opened 25th June 1998".
