BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Seafront promenade, Blackrock

A millennium dial with a lady diver, sculpted by Tanya Nyegaard, at the centre. The gnomon is formed by an imaginary line between the outer edge of statue’s feet and a mark south of the statue’s support. The dial shows 6am to 6pm in hours, using XII and IV. Gold numerals 300mm high are read from inside the dial. An inscription reads: "Anno Domini 2000 - To commemorate the jubilee of the birth of Christ and to mark the beginning of a new millennium". The date is shown in Roman numerals and in binary. A Gaelige proverb translates as "Ebbing and flowing is how the sea spends the day".
