BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Essex

The dial stands on a simple tapered cylindrical stone pedestal. An inscription around the edge reads:" Georgius VI Dei Gratia ??? Omn?? Rex Coronation 1937". The centre is filled with the Royal Crest and "Dieu et Mon Droit". Hours IIII - XII - IIII - VIII are shown, with the numerals read from outside and divided to 30, 15, 7.5 minutes. There is a noon gap but there is a spurious 7.5 minute mark in the gap! The gnomon is of open design with floral ’S’ supporter but is badly bent.
