BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Margaret’s Church (2), Whatfield

Painted wooden sundial mounted above inner entrance doorway into nave. The dial shows the time from 7am to 4pm in quarters, but with no specific half hour marks indicated. The dial has black lines and numerals on (aged) white ground, with a date of 1844 at top centre. The edges of this wooden dial panel are badly worn and the iron strip gnomon has a single support strut. It would appear probable that this dial was replaced by that currently over the entrance into the South porch. (1)
