BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Buckinghamshire

The dial is mounted by the vicarage gate in the north section of the churchyard on what might be an old preaching cross shaft. The shaft is of octagonal section and stands on a square base, overall about 1680 high. From the centre outwards, in consecutive rings, the dial has an 8-point compass rose around a five-petalled rose, labelled at the four cardinal points; hour lines and half hour marks; 30, 15 and 7.5 minute divisions; Roman hour numerals IIII - XII - IIII - VIII; and 30, 15 and 5 minute divisions. There is a noon gap. The Roman numerals are aligned with the hour lines and read from inside the dial. The half hour marks are three dots forming a triangle. No names or dates are visible. The very substantial gnomon is pierced by an unusual shaped cut-out. The back edge is vertical and has a shaped foot.
