BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
This analemmatic sundial is one of many which were made to commemorate the millennium. There is a short path orientated North-South and marked with the mionths of the year. The user needs to stand on this path as near as possible to the current date when his own shadow will indicate the time amongst the hour markers. This example shows VII - VII BST. It is set in a paved area to the South of the Community Centre and measures 6000mmw x 2500mm deep. The hour markers are granite blocks with the incised numerals infilled in black.
