BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Eastnor Castle, Eastnor

At the west end of the upper south terrace is a brass horizontal sundial which was made by John Rowley of London who was working from about 1691 until the 1720s. The dial plate is weathered so that only part of the maker’s name is now legible. It shows the hours IIII-VIII divided down to periods of 5 minutes which are indicated by transversals. There is an 8-point compass rose and an Equation of Time scale. An intricate monogram W is engraved on the dial plate. The gnomon has an ornate pattern to its supporters. A baluster pedestal on a two-step base supports the dial.
