BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Thornlea, Whitby

A horizontal dial, not fully observed, located in the front garden. The gnomon root is at centre of dialplate and has a ’bird’ supporter, its angle is too low. Set on a cylindrical fluted reconstituted stone column. Whole dial may be formed from same material as the column.
