BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Oxfordshire

The dial is in a private garden. It shows 4am to 8pm in Arabic numerals read from the outside, with a noon gap, and has numbered 30 and 15 minute marks, and unnumbered marks for 7.5 minute. It then shows minutes using zigzag transversals but with dots instead of concentric rings. There is an EoT ring marked to half minutes, and there are three rings of place names marked with XII for local noon. The right triangular gnomon has ornate piercing and an inscription on the style reading: ’Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense’. The pedestal is by Banks and is of an ornate baluster design with acanthus décor.
