BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Shropshire

The motto reads: ’Sunny Hours’. The dial shows 4am to 8pm in 30, 15 and 7.5 min marks, using XII and IIII, the numerals read from outside the chapter ring. A sunface is centred on the gnomon root, with flames as compass points. The dial is mounted in the garden on a cylindrical pillar 1140h on circular base. A further motto on shaft reads ’I only count the sunny hours’.
