BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Jersey

There is a motto in arch. It is not readable but it begins ’Sic dran’. It appears that the writing may only represent attempts at drafting. The dial shows7am to 6pm in half hours, using XII and IV. The numerals are fading but the (near full length) hour lines are fairly strong. There remains a trace of a now non-existent central circular shield. The left (dexter) side are the arms of the De Carteret family (involved in the affairs of the Island for 800+ years). The sinister arms are as yet unknown. The motto at the base of the shield is "Loyall Devoir". The date is scratched in the top part of the dial. The gnomon style height is 41.5 degs
