BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Pinetum Gardens (1), St Austell

The horizontal dial in the Courtyard Garden is more famous for its pedestal than anything else. It is in the form of a kneeling Indian wearing a loincloth and turban and is thought to have been made by John Nost, born c1678, who produced other supporters in the form of blackamoors or FatherTime. The leaden figure supprts a bronze dial with an 8-point compass rose in the centre. It was installed here after 1976. The gnomon was found to be missing in 2024.
