Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Dorset

This multiple dial was originally found in Paisley. It has a central main dial showing the time in Irvine and Smyrna, and four satellite dials around. The south pair are for Philadelphia and Jerusalem, and the north pair for Demerara and Archangel. The main dial shows 5am to 7pm in 30, 15 and 5 min marks, with a split noon, using XII and IV. It has an 8-point compass rose in the centre. All numerals are read from outside the rings. The latitude and longitude of all places are given, and there is various other décor. Mottoes on each side of the main dial read: "Vigor atatis / fluit ut flos / veris" and " Claritutem et / splendorem solis / indico". At the foot of the dial there is a cartouche with E.K. (Etios Kyriakos) and the date in Greek letters. The dial was restored by Harriet James and John Davis in 2004. Ref: BSS Bulletin 16(iii) pp.110-116
