BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Dorset

The dial is in the garden by the lake. It uses a line of light to mark the time, and a thumbwheel allows a slit in the gnomon to be aligned with the sun to measure the time accurately. The dial is adjustable for latitude in half degrees. It shows 6am to 6pm in half and quarter hours, using white infilled numerals. The noon line is not split. The dial is mounted on a square stone pedestal 820h, using four hole fixing, but is a bit undermined by the action of moles!
